This workshop is designed to give artists an introduction to the vibrant world of encaustics. You will learn how to make your own wax medium and explore many different techniques including fusing, incising, and scraping. Each student will take home 3 small finished paintings. After completing the Introduction workshop you will learn advanced techniques such as photo transfer, collage, using hot tools, more with stencils and shellac burning. This class is perfect for those interested in photography, printmaking and collage. Each student will take home 3 small finished paintings. All supplies will be provided.

Encaustic Studio Day – 4 hours – 12:30-4:30 pm Plaza Art Dates: AUGUST 1, 2010
This class is designed for anyone who has taken a previous class with meand just want to get in the studio and CREATE! Work on your own projects using my materials…Bring two wooden panels no larger than 12” x 18” to work on in a studio format. No demonstration but I will be on hand to assist and answer all questions. All wax and supplies provided.

Two day workshop - Basics and Beyond
Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday 12:00pm-4:00pm
Plaza Art Dates: August 28 and 29, 2010 and October 9 and 10, 2010
This workshop is designed as a beginning class on encaustics. You will learn how luscious and exciting the world of encaustics is and be introduced to the more advanced techniques including shellac, collage and image transfer. Students will prepare their own surface and learn how to make their own medium and paint. Two finished paintings will be completed in this class as well as several small paintings.
Cost: $150.00
Supplies: $25.00 –Wax, dammar resin and oil paint will be provided. Students will provide their own panels. All other supplies will be provided.

- Students must provide their own wooden panels, recommended size 12" x 12" or larger but not much larger
- Items to collage with and images for transfer - black and white photos need to be photocopied
- Incising tools (any metal or heavy plastic tool that can make a mark)
- Any stencils you have around the house
- Oil paint or oil sticks in various colors (bring whatever you have, no need to purchase before class)
- All natural hair brushes – cheap ones found at a hardware store or any you want to sacrifice
- A hot plate and heat gun will be available for use in class
WAX and WINE PARTY– 2 hours in your home day or evening!!
Get all your friends together for a FUN evening of encaustic painting. I will provide all the supplies and set-up in your home! You bring the appetizers and of course the WINE! No experience necessary. Everyone will complete an 8"x10" painting on a cradled wooden panel ready to be hung!!
Cost: $ 40.00 per person, minimum of 4 people, if you have 6 guests the host gets %20 discount!
